FAQ

Do I need an account?
Nope, not at all! Accounts are only for convenience to keep track of your collections.

How do I create a collection?
Press upload from the menu and you'll be asked to use the generated password or to enter your own. It's this password which will be used to encrypt the files. Once the password has been selected a collection is created for you to upload files to.

What does the `store hash` option do?
You can choose to store a hash of the collection's password, doing this will allow you to access your own collection without having to enter the password each time. Not storing the hash will be more secure, but you will have to enter in the password each time you access your collection.

Do I have to remember the collection passwords?
There are two ways Cryptimg collections are accessed:

How do I upload files?
Once you've created a collection you simply drag files to the upload area and they'll start uploading straight away

When are the files encrypted?
The files are encrypted in the browser before being uploaded, the server only receives the encrypted file data so they can only be viewed when the passwords is provided.

Are the thunbnail images encrypted?
Yes, the thumbnails are created in the browser as soon as the images are added, they are then encrypted like the main image and they're uploaded together.

Can anyone else add files to my collection?
No, files can only be added by the browser used to create the collection and only for the duration of the current session if you're not logged into an account. If you're not logged in, your session will end when the browser has closed or after 30 minutes of inactivity.
